Lumibricks Moon Bar 18009 Review: 2,186 Pieces, Lights and Coastal Detail

The standout feature of Lumibricks Moon Bar 18009 is how much of its character comes from the building itself: an oversized rooftop sign, an open-air ground floor, a retro lounge upstairs and a roof that doubles as a coastal lookout. The 2,186-piece set adds a small off-road vehicle, five Lumibricks-style minifigures, a 24-piece LED kit and approximately 60 printed pieces, with no stickers listed.

Moon Bar belongs to the Lumibricks Road Trip Saltwind Coast series. Its Pacific Coast Highway inspiration comes through in the beachside tavern layout, exterior stairs, neon-style signage and laid-back rooftop setting. The other sets in the series are Sunrise LightHouse 18007 and Beach Lifeguard Tower 18008.

The modular format helps make the interior a major part of the display. The ground floor is an open-air bar, the second floor has a furnished lounge, and the roof provides another place to stage the figures. Floors and roof can be separated, while hinged or removable walls open up additional views inside.

Box contents and instructions

The two instruction manuals divide the build into 14 steps. Manual one covers the figures and the first floor in steps one through six; manual two handles the upper floor, rooftop and off-road vehicle in steps seven through fourteen. Numbered bags match those steps, and separate bags marked S and F hold special parts, figure components and pieces used for the lighting installation. The reviewer counted 44 parts bags in total.

The light kit arrives in Lumibricks’ orange box, with four numbered envelopes, tweezers, a USB plug and battery boxes. AAA and CR2032 batteries are not included. The reviewer recommends following the manual’s lighting directions closely and checking each component as it is installed, so any faulty parts can be identified during the build. The source says Lumibricks offers replacement parts through its service department.

A build with display access in mind

The reviewer found the build fairly easy and a good entry point for someone new to Lumibricks. Early stages establish the base, floors and bar, including multicolored lights beneath the counter and a jukebox in the corner. The main floor then gains its walls, doors and windows. A large awning gives the bar a clear beachfront identity, while a color-changing light string marks the side entrance.

The stairs climb the building’s opposite side, with an electrical-box-style cover concealing the battery pack beneath them. The reviewer compares this detail with the one in the Lumibricks Gelato Store set. A hinged ground-floor wall swings open for a closer look at the tavern interior.

Upstairs, a large table and surrounding seats set a lounge-like scene. Printed wall pieces add color and texture. The record player’s gramophone-style horn struck the reviewer as out of place, but the removable upper wall and roof make the finished room easy to inspect. The large moon sign completes the build and joins the lighting setup.

Vehicle, figures and printed parts

The two-tone off-road vehicle is a separate sub-build with working headlights and tail lights, plus printed light pieces. Five figures fill out the tavern: the review images show a performer onstage, the bartender, a surfer and other characters arranged around the interior. Together they give the open rooms a sense of activity that suits the set’s relaxed roadside theme.

The printed elements are a strong point. Lumibricks lists 60, and the review notes that even some window pieces carry printing. That’s a welcome alternative to applying stickers, especially across a build with so many visible signs and interior details. The reviewer would have liked printed designs on the two included guitars as well.

Verdict and set details

The light kit adds useful atmosphere, especially the shifting colors at the entrance, though the reviewer found it less striking than lighting in Lumibricks’ Cyberpunk series. The big green chair upstairs also missed the mark for them, alongside the gramophone-style record player. Even with those quibbles, the easy build, accessible interiors and printed details earned Moon Bar 4.5 out of 5 for build quality and detail.

As a display piece, it may work best on its own: the reviewer felt it didn’t fit their city or Cyberpunk layouts. For collectors weighing the set’s footprint and contents, the listed details are Lumibricks Moon Bar 18009, 2,186 pieces, five minifigures, approximately 60 printed pieces, no stickers and a 24-element light kit. The listed retail price is $119.99 USD.
