This year’s Holiday Barbies include three dolls and Ken, while a sweater-and-pajama look stands out for its relaxed Christmas feel.

The most appealing doll in this year’s Holiday Barbie lineup may be the one dressed for a quiet day at home. Alongside the familiar formalwear, the collection includes a cozy sweater look that feels more relaxed than the elaborate holiday gowns—and that difference is what makes it stand out.
The dolls were already on shelves at Meijer before Halloween, a familiar reminder that holiday merchandise arrives well ahead of the season itself. This year’s group includes a blonde Barbie, a Black Barbie, a Hispanic Barbie and Ken. The lineup offers a few different looks, but their appeal comes down to the details each collector notices first: face, hair, clothing and the overall feel of the doll.
The blonde Barbie fills the expected place in the assortment, though her face doesn’t do much for me. I’ve never been especially drawn to blonde hair or to the blank expressions I often see on playline Barbies, and this doll doesn’t change that impression.
Faces and outfits shape the lineup
The Black Barbie is my favorite of the four this year. Her face has more character, which gives the doll a stronger presence for me. That preference shifts from year to year; there have also been Hispanic Holiday Barbies I found especially attractive. This year, though, the Black Barbie is the one I’d pick.
This year’s Hispanic Barbie doesn’t land as well for me. Attractiveness is a personal call, of course, and that’s part of the fun of comparing holiday dolls: one face or styling choice can make a particular release click for one collector and pass by another. The photos offer a closer look at each doll’s presentation, but my favorite remains the Black Barbie.
Ken is the final member of the group, but his styling isn’t for me. I’m not fond of his hair, and the bare ankles with a tuxedo look out of place to my eye. He’s an easy pass for my collection.
A softer holiday style
Big dresses have never been my main draw, either. Some collector Barbies in elaborate gowns have caught my attention because their designs feel more detailed than those on the playline dolls. That difference makes sense: the collector dolls can offer a more intricate look. Still, I’m usually more interested in Christmas Barbies dressed for comfort than in a sweeping formal outfit.
This year’s sweater doll fits that preference. She looks warm and comfortable, with what appear to be pajama bottoms. The outfit suggests a slower kind of holiday: staying in, getting comfortable and enjoying the day without dressing up. That everyday feeling gives the doll a personality that the formal looks don’t quite have for me.
The pajamas also bring to mind a family plan for Christmas: matching outfits inspired by The Muppet Christmas Carol. Whether the bottoms will fit comfortably is still an open question. At five feet tall and about as wide, I’m curious whether I’ll be able to manage the extra length—or get the pants on at all. That practical detail makes the cozy doll’s outfit feel especially relatable.
More holiday dolls to watch
The Christmas Mariah Carey doll is available again this year at Ollie’s, giving collectors who missed her another chance to find one in stores. No price or edition details are included here, so the useful takeaway is simply that she has returned to that retailer.
There’s plenty of holiday activity at home, too: presents are wrapped, including the stocking gifts, and some have already been passed along to Emma. Finishing early can make December feel less festive, but it also avoids carrying stacks of gifts through winter cold and snow. That’s a practical trade-off collectors and gift givers know well: a little planning can save effort later, even if it means pacing the seasonal excitement.
More Christmas doll releases are still to come, along with some Halloween thoughts. For now, the standout is the sweater-and-pajama look: a comfortable change of pace among the formal holiday fashions.
